September: Tree care after an intense summer
Now that the weather has cooled down, the team have been visiting our sites to check on the health of trees that have been planted over the last five years through the Devon County Council community tree planting schemes. We’ve been all over Devon, clearing out trees that have succumbed to the heat, weeding, and carrying out other light maintenance tasks. Some of the better survival rates are where trees were protected by surrounding vegetation like tall grasses, but we’ll be best able to judge how well these young woodlands have managed in another five years!
